TNMOC Online Remote Packages

Get expert input to access the collections at The National Museum of Computing from the comfort and safety of your classroom. Remote packages enable your students to explore key concepts in computing, science, technology and mathematics.

Use the booking system to choose the date and time of your live sessions.
Book guides to present and facilitate interactive sessions. For the best learning experience, we recommend 1 guide for every 15 students. A presenter to talk students through the content and a facilitator to answer questions and provide additional support. For larger groups they can be subdivided into smaller breakout sessions. There are two themed sessions:
World War 2 Codebreaking
Modern Electronic Computing.

World War 2 Codebreaking includes a tour of the world-famous world war 2 codebreaking machines the Bombe, Tunny, Heath Robinson and Lorenz. It includes an activity using a Python program to act as Lorenz keys to decipher messages or a virtual reality session to create a Virtual Block H.

Modern Electronic Computing includes a tour of EDSAC, WITCH, Elliot 803 & 903, Large Systems and PC Computers. It gives and insight into the development of computing over the last 70 years and covers key concepts in the computer science curriculum. The interactive sessions offer the choice creating a program using the BBC emulator or CoSpaces Virtual Block H.

The two sessions together cover the same content our full day visit in the museum although the sessions are delivered remotely to your classroom or other location.
